When asked if there were any food traditions passed down in her family, she answered, "I miss eating fish shutki (dried fish) cooked by my grandma. I love cooking shutki in her style."

Mania Taher is a Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She loves to travel, cook food, listen to music, and watch anime with her nine-year old daughter. She grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is currently living in Milwaukee, since 2017. Her research focuses on immigrant placemaking, gendered spaces, human-centric design, and South Asian urbanism.

She loves to watch Kitchen Minute, but also Banglar Rannaghor and Bong Eats on YouTube to learn new South Asian cooking styles. When asked what she was having for dinner tonight, Mania's enthusiastic response was, "White rice and curry!"
